Meatless Monday - Cauliflower Soup

Growing up in a Chinese family, dinner would always end with a big bowl of soup. But I was never a big fan of soup and too impatient to wait for the soup to cool to a drinkable temperature, would often leave the bowl sitting out for so long a membrane of fat would form on top of it.

Ever since I moved to the States, my mom has been urging me to make soup for myself. And this past weekend, I finally heeded her advice and followed this recipe for a hearty, rich, cumin cauliflower soup paired with a side of focaccia and oozing raclette.  The perfect cure for a cold winter's night or a dreary rainy Sunday.

The best part about this? Another meatless meal!

Tip - Have leftover soup? Pour into an ice tray and freeze into cubes for later use. (This is best for storing stock to use at a later date).

Fashion Fridays - In the Details

I painted my nails a mint green the other day (I'm trying to trick my body into thinking it's spring) and was pleasantly surprised by how nicely the mint pops against the royal purple. Woo, one step towards getting out of my monochrome rut!

Have a colorful weekend, boys and girls!

Fashion Fridays - Winter Greys

I'm having a severe case of the winter blues and it has translated into a predominantly grey wardrobe palate as of late.  These grey-toned, buttery soft basics have become old friends this winter and I find myself reaching for them weekend after weekend. And it doesn't stop there, this winter literally has me feeling grey (hah!) all the way down to my fingertips.

Ahhh dear spring, you have got to come before my life turns into a black and white movie!

On a side note, I have (embarassingly) never quite figured out the difference between grey vs gray, and while typing up this post, kept flip flopping between the two. So if you were wondering why grey seems strangely spelt, it's because blogspot autocorrects to the British way of spelling.
